What’s Changing?
The Bookmarks and Handouts portlets have been refined and combined into a single tool, now known as the Resources portlet. This updated portlet will allow for a more streamlined experience to reduce the number of portlets, consolidating bookmarks and handouts into one location for easier access and management.
Adding Resources
Navigate to the page that you would like to add a Resources portlet, click the wrench icon to expand the customization panel, then click Options.
From the Options page, choose to add a new feature
On the next page, select the Resources option
The Options page will reload with the new Feature in place. From here, you can click it and choose to rename it.
Click back to home and navigate to the new section on the page you added the Resource to. From here you can choose to add sets (categories or groups to specify if any items can or should be displayed together) or you can directly begin adding resources.
Note: the resources will be displayed as “Ungrouped” if you do not add and assign sets – you can also choose to update the name of the Ungrouped Set to any name of your choosing.
Adding Sets
To add set categories, click the Add set button (not the dropdown arrow)
At minimum, a name is required.
A description is optional and could be helpful if you want to keep these items limited to a very specific purpose. This could also be helpful for users to navigate and determine where the proper place is to look for a resource.
Once you are finished with the set information, click Save. If you are creating multiple categories at once, you can click “Save and add another” for quicker navigation back to the Add Set page.
Updating Set Name
To change the name of a Set (including the ungrouped), click the pencil icon and update the name, then click Save.
Adding Resources
From the Resources section, there are two ways to add new resources. The dropdown arrow next to “Add set” or the “Add resource” button directly inside each set.
The only difference is that using the dropdown arrow next to the “Add set” button will have the default set in place, whereas the “Add Resource” button located inside each set will default to that specific set. (You can still change it on the next page though!)
Documents
Name: Enter a name for the document.
Source: Choose “My computer”, then click Choose file and navigate to the document to upload.
Set: Select the set the document should be grouped with
Checking the box at the bottom of the page allows others to be able to access the content
Links
Name: Enter a name for the link
Source: Choose URL
URL: Enter the address of the webpage you are adding
You can choose whether the link opens in a new window or loads in the existing tab/window.
Note: It is best to leave this as a New Window. The only exception would be if this is another page within MyPark. Otherwise, users would be directed outside of the system without an easy way to navigate back to where they came from.
Example below showing document and link resources combined in one section, as well as the Set description in the second set. You can also see the resource descriptions for each item.
