Why would I want to use library databases?

The primary reason you would want to access the library databases is for research purposes. Many courses require you to write research papers and cite scholarly/peer-reviewed sources. The library databases are the best way to find e-journals, e-books, streaming videos, and more.

How can I access library databases?

The Library provides access to about 100 different databases to Park employees and to Park students registered in a course during the current or previous term. Guest access is available by request within the Norrington Center at the Parkville campus.

The complete A-Z list of library databases is accessible at https://library.park.edu/az.phpOnce you click into a specific database, you will be required to login with your Park ID# and password. NOTE: Students must be registered in a course for the current or previous term. A modern web browser that supports cookies is also required for the Library’s OpenAthens authentication system.

What if my login isn’t working?

Try logging in athttp://my.park.edu using your Park ID# and password to confirm that your Park account is active.  These same credentials should also work to login to the Library’s databases.

If you have stored your password in your browser and forgotten it, try these links to view your saved passwords:

Google Chrome

Mozilla Firefox

You may also reset your Park password using this online tool or by contacting the Help Desk at 816-584-6768 (Monday – Friday, 7 am – 7 pm Central Time)

Once I’m logged in, is there a quick start/basic use guide available?

Databases often vary in look and functionality, but the library’s A-Z list (at https://library.park.edu/az.php) includes links to guides or video tutorials for many databases. Look for the “green arrow” icon next to a database name to access these help sources or contact a librarian at https://library.park.edu/contact for assistance.

Where can I find additional research help?

If you are experiencing issues with the Library’sdatabases you should contact a librarian at the Norrington Center (Parkville campus), or call 816-584-6285, or connect via email or online chat at https://library.park.edu/contact.

Is there a policy regarding how library databases are used?

Park University’s library databases are governed by the university’s Acceptable Use PoliciesU.S. Copyright Law, and any vendor licensing agreements.
