Notice of Required Remote Proctoring for Online Students

Important Technical Requirement

You will need to make sure the ProctorU extension is installed on Chrome or Firefox. At the time of your appointment, to connect with a proctor you will also need to install a temporary applet to allow the proctor to share their screen.

The extension will only need to be installed once and can be done ahead of time, but the applet is a temporary file that must be installed for each ProctorU session.

You should visit this ProctorU Resource Center Page (Links to an external site.), which provides videos, a list on what is needed, along with links to the downloads for those extensions as well.

You should visit the ProctorU Live+ Resource Center[CJ1] which provides videos, a list of what is needed, along with links to the downloads for those extensions as well.

ProctorU encourages you to visit the "Test It Out page" https://test-it-out.proctoru.com/ a few days before your exam, at about the same time of day as your scheduled exam, to ensure you have the best possible testing experience. You will be able to test your equipment and connect with a ProctorU representative for tech support 24/7 if needed.

Part 2: Syllabus verbiage:[CJ2]

Proctor for Online 2019

This particular course requires remote virtual proctoring of the final exam for online students only (not all Park courses require proctoring - check your other course's syllabus for requirements). Final exams are taken online under the virtual supervision of ProctorU during a window of time set in the course modules. You need It is up to each student to register with ProctorU and to schedule each exam with ProctorU at least 72 hours ahead of time.

To take exams under ProctorU's virtual supervision, you must have access to a computer running Windows or MacOS, Chrome or Firefox browser, with a video camera, a microphone, a good internet connection, and a reflective device e.g., a mirror[PC3] , and be located in a quiet room where you can take the exam(s) in privacy. Interruptions in the internet connection or entry of other persons into the room will be reported by ProctorU and investigated to ensure the academic integrity of the exam.

Students needing testing accommodation for a qualifying disability must follow the instructions in our Park University Online Proctoring Policy Page (see URL below).

Students who are unable to take a remotely proctored exam at home may be able to take a remotely proctored test through ProctorU at a Park University Campus Center or the Park University Testing Center, or alternative site if approved in advance by your instructor. [CJ4] or other location such as a library or testing center with a private room.

Park, however, cannot guarantee that all Campus Center locations or the Testing Center will be able to administer support remotely proctored exams due to the requirement for a controlled, interruption-free environment. Students who wish to take an online proctored exam at a Park Campus Center or the Testing Center are responsible for notifying their instructor and making the arrangements on their own. Students should contact the Center during the first week of class to determine if the Campus Center or Testing Center can accommodate remote proctoring.

It is up to each student to sign-up online in advance to have their final exam scheduled with ProctorU. Exceptions to remote proctoring will be granted in only rare cases such as when a student's circumstance prevents him/her from participating in remote proctoring. In these instances, the instructor, in collaboration with the student, will make alternative arrangements for the student to take the test with a face-to-face proctor.

There will be no charge to the student for using ProctorU services for the required remote proctoring for this course. However, failing to schedule your exam 72 hours prior to the exam date will result in the following late-fee charges for which the student will be responsible for paying:

- Students may be charged a $12.00 late exam registration fee if they schedule the exam within 24 hours of the exam date.
- Students may be charged an $8.00 late exam registration fee if they schedule the exam between 72 and 24 hours of the exam date.

Students will need to make sure the ProctorU extension is installed on Chrome or Firefox. Once it comes time for their appointment, to connect with a proctor, they will also need to install a temporary applet to allow the proctor to share their screen.

The extension will only need to be installed once and can be done ahead of time, but the applet is a temporary file that must be installed for each ProctorU session.

Students should visit this ProctorU page - https://www.proctoru.com/auto-resource-center which provides videos, a list on what is needed, along with links to the downloads for those extensions as well.

Students should visit the ProctorU Live+ Resource Center[CJ5] , which provides videos, a list of what is needed, along with links to the downloads for those extensions as well.

[CJ2]I rearranged some paragraphs to improve the flow, but anything that I suggest deleting is in strikethrough, with new text in yellow highlight.

[PC3]According to ProctorU representative’s response on 11/22/2019, they’ve eliminated this requirement.

[CJ4]Instructors don’t need to approve using ProctorU at another location. They only need to approve an exception to using ProctorU. The Parkville testing center does not have cameras so cannot be used
