In this article, we will show you how to install Teamviewer 10 into your computer to allow IT services to help you remotely when we can't physically be there.

NOTE: If you are using a Park University issued laptop, then this program is already installed. Just click your Start button in the bottom right and type Teamviewer in the search bar, this will search for Teamviewer on your PC and should open up. We can remote into your PC when you give us the ID and password from the Teamviewer Window.

Quick explanation on how and why we want to do these steps as close as possible.

Teamviewer 10 is an older version (newest one is Teamviewer 12 and we don't want that.) and the reason why is because at the IT office we use version 10 for various reasons and it will not work with Teamviewer 11 or newer. So be sure to download Teamviewer 10.x (x being whatever version of 10, either will work.)

Step 1:

What it should look like as of 11/6/17

(Note: This website link has all the previous versions of Teamviewer. If you get an error, please contact Help Desk or Live chat with us)

Step 2: Click on Version 10.x located on the right side.

Step 3: After clicking Version 10.x, you should see the version change on the left where it says Windows (v11.0.80697) which should now change to Windows (

Step 4: Click on Teamviewer underneath Windows (v10.0.47484). This will download the Teamviewer 10 installer. Congrats! You are through the hard part.

(Note: If you are using Google Chrome, you'll see the download progress at the bottom of your web browser. If you are using Firefox, you can see your download progress in the top right with the icon looking like an arrow pointing down.Internet Explorer will give you a prompt to Save or run the file. I always recommend saving it so you don't need to go through the steps again if it fails.)

Step 5: Once the download is done, go ahead and run the setup file that should be named TeamViewer_Setup.exe. This will prompt you with a screen asking if you want to run the file, click Run or Yes.

Step 6: After clicking Run, a new window appears which is the setup for Teamviewer 10. Ill explain what each option does and you can choose which works for you.

  • Basic Installation: This option installs teamviewer like a regular program on your computer, allowing you to launch whenever you want just like opening up your favorite web browser. This is the recommended option since if you don't want it anymore then you can simply uninstall it.
  • Installation to access this computer remotely (unattended): This method allows you to access this computer remotely with your choosing of password and ID number. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS METHOD UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
  • Run only (one time use): As the option says, it will run teamviewer once. After you close it and restart your PC, it will be gone for good (except the setup file we downloaded). Use this option if you plan on doing this only once and don't want the program installed for long term use.
  • Show advance settings: For he sake of this tutorial, I won't go through this yet unless requested.

Step 7: Click Accept-run, this will now install and run Teamviewer 10. Once finished, go ahead and open Teamviewer 10. You can do this by clicking on the Windows Logo in the bottom left or use the search function if you are using Windows 10. Just type Teamviewer and it should be your top result!

Step 8: Once Teamviewer is open, you should have a ID# and password listed under Allow Remote Control. This is the information you can give us if you would like for us to remote into your PC. The password will change for every session or when you close Teamviewer entirely so this keeps everything secure and under your control.

That should be it! If you would like more information on how to use Teamviewer personally, I recommend googling Teamviewer Tutorial as there are ton out there that will explain to you every option.
