What is it?
Laptop Kiosks are laptop docking stations located on campus that each contain six Dell Latitude E5450PCs and six 13" MacBook Airs.
The kiosks are in place to offer you the use of a laptop while having the mobility to work in buildings and areas other than labs.
How can I access the resource?
There are four Laptop kiosks located throughout the campus. There is one kiosk in Thompson Commons, and two in the Norrington Learning Center and one in the Academic Plaza. You can can check out laptops for up to four hours.
The kiosks are available to any Parkville student who has a student ID. There are easy-to-follow instructions that guide you through the checkout process. You just need to scan the top barcode on your ID card, enter their password, which is the same as their MyPark password, which will allow them to checkout a unit for up to four hours.
Why I want to use it?
The kiosks are perfect for a student that needs a laptop for a short time to complete your assignments. This is beneficial in that you don’t have to bring your own device and have to carry it around all day or for other mobility reasons. The laptops contain all software that a you require, and checkout is free for the first four hours. Additionally, all work a you complete on the laptop is erased upon re-docking, which ensures privacy and security.

You can find information on these units on a variety of sources. On the kiosks themselves there is a FAQ page which covers issues such as rental times, available software, and battery life. How does this item improve my student experience?
The laptop kiosk allows students who may not have regular access to a laptop to check out a laptop for up to four hours. Each laptop contains most software that a you would require, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Since August 2015, there have been over 3,000 student laptop checkouts.

Is there a policy in place?
You are allowed to check out the laptops for up to four hours. Laptops must be returned in the same condition in which they were checked out. Late charges of $5.00 per hour accumulate on your account for up to 48 hours. After 48 hours you will be charged the cost of the machine that you checked out or the cost of a comparable machine.
